Our Story

18th Street started about 40 years ago, with a 2-year-old girl colouring the small boxes on printed A1 masterplans. 

At the time, she didn’t know that they were allotments, or that this big sheet of paper represented hundreds of allotments in Hallett Cove’s new Karrara estate, but she knew that she loved it and wanted to keep colouring. 

For the next 5 years, she would watch the people come and go from the front office of her family home (the only house in Hallett Cove at the time). As each visitor left, her father would shake their hands on the doorstep. He had sold them their dream… a new block of land.

Real estate, and in particular, residential projects, courses through Carly's veins, and is at the core of 18th Street’s business. We live, eat and breathe the idea of that handshake between the sales agent and the buyer. 

It’s the promise of a new future.

Carly Aherne has over 20 years experience in the field of graphic design, media and advertising. A graduate of Bachelor of Visual Communications (Graphic Design) from the University of South Australia, Carly has forged a strong reputation as one of South Australia’s leading Project Marketers.

Prior to working in property, Carly spent 10 years working in advertising, media planning and media sales at companies such as Channel 9 and MediaEdge. 

A move to Vancouver and then Sydney took her out of the industry for a time, until she returned to Adelaide and created a marketing role at Connekt Urban Projects. Her passion for project marketing was evident from that moment on. In her 6 years at Connekt, she worked on over 30 land and built form projects and grew her team to 4 staff - including Lauren Schreiber.

Carly never stops seeking the magic in projects. She strives every day to improve, learn, grow and excel in every task she undertakes. She takes great pride in her client service and cares deeply about developer success and buyer delight. She believes wholeheartedly in the strength of the South Australian property market and is excited to see what the future brings for urban projects.

Her strengths and passion are in creating and delivering award winning campaigns and creating the ultimate customer experience through online and offline platforms. Lauren has vast experience in developing marketing strategies, managing budgets of all sizes and branding property projects large and small.

Lauren has worked at two of Australia’s largest development companies and with a vast range of developers. Working alongside some of Adelaide’s best project sales agents and development teams has strengthened her collaborative and end-customer-focused approach to project marketing.

Lauren’s in-depth understanding of the property market along with her results-driven approach has led to outstanding success in the formation and execution of strong brands, marketing strategies and campaigns. Matthias has over 20 years of industry experience in the field of web development. Moving from New Zealand to Adelaide in 2001 shortly after receiving his diploma of Web Development from Natcoll Design Technology. 

He quickly secured a job at one of the leading small business website companies and has worked on websites for Adelaide Zoo, various major Barossa and McLaren Vale wineries and several schools, including websites for The Catholic Archdiocese of Adelaide.

With the ever-changing industry of web development Matthias is always learning and upskilling to stay a head of the curve. Seeking new and smart ways to delivery fantastic fast and secure websites for all teams.
