The Austin
The Austin puts you at the heart of Adelaide’s south west corner, Adelaide’s most historic and energetic neighbourhood.
The Austin consists of 24 stylish three bedroom terrace homes with six bespoke designs. The lack of residential product in the south west quarter of the city allowed The Austin to shine with it’s unique facade and character.
The naming process involved a deep dive into the history of Adelaide’s colourful south-west quarter, a place of trade, crafts, food and a strong community. We explored the evolution of the area, it’s historic ‘working class’ cottages and grand mansions along South Terrace. We also deeply considered it’s future as a creative hub with a tapestry of eateries, pubs, boutique stores. The name was inspired by ‘John Austin Combined Services’ - a drapery/hardware store near Gilbert St which operated from the 1920’s to the 70’s.
The visual identity and brand was then created to reflect the unique shape and character of the townhouse designs. Modelfarm created the 3D renders which reflected the industrial mood of the project and surrounding area. The sales centre signage and fitout was designed and managed by 18th Street, and the doors opened with the launch of the new website and project film.
The marketing strategy and lead generation activities were predominantly online with a mix of targeted social media advertising, SEM and REA listings.
The project sold out in only 4 months and construction is well underway by Metricon.
